Anyone know what size the brakes are , or were to get compatible parts

Beware, I bought a set of new front brake shoes from NEV back in 2016 for my 2002 GEM e4. They were slightly oversize and would not fit. No way, no how. Poor quality control. There was no way to use them other than put them in a lathe and turn down the shoe o.d. I didn’t bother, because I was able to change out both wheel cylinders, then scuff up the existing shoes and reuse them.

That was ten years ago anyone can make a mistake. Why didn’t you just send them back for the correct ones?

I didn’t actually try to use them until they had sat on my shelf for a year, so too late to return them. They were marked correctly for my vehicle, they just had too much shoe thickness.

@Paul_Tr - Do you still have these oversized shoes?
If Yes, what would you take for them?

I might buy them from you just to see what the error might be and what it would take to get them to fit something.

Sorry, I sold my ‘02 GEM locally in June and gave the brake shoes and other miscellaneous parts to the new buyer.

I bought a new 2025 GEM e4 to replace my old GEM. I love it so far. I got the optional doors, sunroof, mag wheels, lithium batteries, trunk, and bumpers. I designed a propane heater for the new GEM. I will share pictures of my installation soon (in a new thread.)

Can somebody tell me how to post a new topic in the GEM forum?
