Disable Backup Beeper 2005 Gem e4

The backup beeper on this model is internal to the PSDM (fuse box) located under the dash. I would like to silence it either entirely or cut the annoying sound way down however I cannot pinpoint the exact location on the PSDM module or see any speaker type sound holes so I maybe could apply duct tape or something to that spot at least. ps- is there possibly a controller programming procedure which could disable it?

To get at the piezo buzzer itself you need to remove the PSDM out of the car and remove the cover.

It is a bit of work, but well worth it.
Placing tape over the beeper tones it down, but you need to do a bit of trial and error to get it at the desired level.
I did the same(tape on the hole) for the “Turn Signal is still ON” warning beeper (over to the left of the steering wheel). It is equally ear splitting.

Advantage to doing the tape mod is that it also quiets down the “Brake Not Set” warning when you KeyOFF without pulling up on Hand Brake.

As an alternate(and the quick/dirty/lazy) you could cut the reverse signal wire coming from the controller. This will disable the pulsed beep when in reverse, but retain the Hand Brake warning in its’ full glory/amplitude.

Locate blue wire in P10 and cut it for this mod. Give yourself some room on each end in case you want to put it back together.

I have not tried this second mod as I like to have the brake beeper active when diagnosing a car that is not powering up.
