I have a 1999 G2 Gem Car, near as I can tell stock motor. I replaced Batteries, battery charger, GE motor controller about 2 years ago when I restored the vehicle. It lightly used for a golf cart and short runs on the street. I’ve noticed a new noise/shudder and getting worse when slowing for a coasting stop. I put the front end on blocks and ran the car with with just the tires, the noise is about the same wheels visible shutter. I checked all the mechanical play in the differential and axles appears normal.
I’m guessing it the motor controller but have not been able to find definitive way to confirm it.
Could it be the controller has lost it’s setup?
Does anyone know which controller is standard for the this car. The T1 or T2 ?
T1 controller
Replace the rubber bumper in the end of the motor shaft.
Be SURE to grease the splines
Spline wear will also contribute but is expensive to correct.
