2010 armiture stuck on differential shaft. tried most common things . any tricks to remove it without damaging it or the diff?
These things can be incredibly frustrating.
Some will come off with frequent doses of penetrant and time. Every day come back and give the armature a little shot and wiggle up/down. Don’t get frustrated.
If you have the tooling you might try drilling a hole into the coupler so you can squirt your fluid directly on the splines. Go real slow and listen. Be prepared to break a drill.
Heat might also be needed but big fire from a torch will probably also get into the windings and burn off the varnish. Plan on also replacing the gearbox seal too.
What motor is it? If a short GE5 it’s not too heartbreaking if it needs to be cut off.
If heat is needed, this would probably be a good candidate for using an induction wrench.
I like the idea if the induction heater, but they are usually loops.
How does one get this around a coupler?
They have heating elements that are U shaped, slide it over the coupler then attach to the tool. I wonder if you could take an element and wrap it around the coupler?
