This 5th prototype is a working dash a/c system for a GEM . I moved the charger to the rear to provide room in the front for the condensing coil. I used the split systems I get from China. The problem we had was trying to squeeze the provided air hander under the dash. I solved the size problem by cutting off the blower and used only the evaporator coil. I installed inline blowers in the ducts to each outlet (4). These china 48v a/c kits come with a compressor, air handler, condenser coil and fan for this condenser.
The challenge is getting everything to mount in the space available of course so I tried different placements and had to experiment with the routing of refrigerant lines. In the end I set the condenser about where the battery charger goes and built extension cables to move the charger to the rear area. I had room with the factory Lithium battery.
I know I need a much bigger Lithium battery but that is a Gaberl kind of problem. I am the air conditioning guy.
I hope these pictures help if you decide to build one of these.
this is for two units. A few months ago, price may have changed. No Tariff if only 1 or 2 at a time.
The power supply is 12v for the fans and 48v for the compressor. About 16amps for the compressor.
