OK quite a few questions 
I’m looking into making my first EV, I want it to be a scratch built 1 seater sporty looking thing, It would be for a daily commuter 40miles tops so say a 60 mile range.
However i don’t want this to be a huge project, this will be a little prototype to justify big money on next project.
Main concern is motors, with a budget where could i get a/ couple of servicible motors for the job, (wouldnt mind 50-60 mph tho 70+ would be nice) had first considered 4 starter motors but from what ive read they wont cut it, so any recommendations like ones found in a machine i may be able to get second hand.
Secondly any one have experience of scratch building a car for UK road worthiness that can share some tips/links
