I purchased a used 2011 e4 last year with about 450 miles on it. To begin with, I thought the batteries were bad (they are not good, but they are not completely bad… yet), as I couldn’t go more than a couple of miles before charging. This is not a real issue since we typically don’t go more than 5 miles round trip. With a couple of full charges and discharges, I can get down to about 30-40% of charge before the main issue come up. The issue that I seem to have is that I get the High Motor Temperature Warning Indicator coming on and I am reduced to low gear speeds.
we use this car to drive around the golf course with the kids so there are some hills involved, but nothing that (I believe) should be causing this.
I have a service shop about one hour from me, but I was wondering if there is anything that I should be looking for first. I am handy enough with a voltmeter and wiring if that is the case.
thank you
Christopher
