2005 higher speed

I currently own a 2000 gem e825. Batteries are dead. I found a 2005 that I’m looking to buy, but the owner says it tops out at 23/25mph. My current car goes up to 33/35. I’m very new to the gem car world and I’m wondering if there is an easy, fairly inexpensive way to make a 2005 go faster. I’m not sure I’d love being limited to 25mph.

I did notice that my current gem has a blue motor that doesn’t seem to be standard and thinking maybe that’s what’s making the difference?

Thanks in advanced any help!

2005 was a one off and is pretty hard limited to 25. Removing speed limit might get to 30mph. Small tire sw another 5 or so. Big tires 2 or 3.

I don’t know if it can pull tall gears. Probably yes if it has a d&d big motor.

If you have not so done yet, I encourage the step up to the 05 car. It is a far better platform to build solid running car and have fun with.

Key word in your query is the word EASY.
This can be a bit subjective, depending on your skill set.

True- speeding up the Gen2 cars are a bit more difficult(than the Gen1 cars), but not impossible.
You must also understand why your car is being held back.

That 23/25 speed limit is hard coded into the T3/T4 controllers, but it can be bypassed by confusing the signals from the speed sensor. Easiest way to do this is to get one of Inwo’s Magic Magnets(click on his name and send a personal message about what you want). The MM is a speed modifier/module designed to simply clip into the harness inline with the speed sensor and changes the info (allowing the car to go faster). It does not get any simpler than that. Your previous car may even have one of these (depending on what method was used to speed it up). It will move over to your new car.

How fast you will it go? Speed is a formula that looks at several factors.

  • What motor is in this car? When was it last serviced?
  • What gears are in the gearbox (you might have 10.33)
  • Batteries (and their condition)
  • What terrain will you be driving in
  • Tire size (properly inflated)

When driving the old car, Is your speed accurate on your dash display? (ref GPS speed on your phone). If no, look on the little wires coming out of the motor for a MM device.

If >device not found<
Blue motor might have a half speed magnet installed which is another way to confuse the controller into letting you drive faster.

Again, depending on the motor in your 05, you might consider swapping the blue motor into your new car to see what it does. (satisfying the “fairly inexpensive” part of your original request).
