Is there any real difference between a 2001 GEM and a 2002 GEM? Are both 72 volt motors? Have the same range?

Basically the same but 2002 had some desireable upgrades. Rear fender mounting and T2 controller being among them.

2002 thru 2004 models are my favorites due to T2 controller. 2005 has more sophisticated suspension, brakes and are easier to work on but controllers are a step backwards. Also some of the electronics are tender and a magnitude more expensive to replace. ($800+ for power distribution panel)
