Dead spot under acceleration.
Driving on DL the 2012 GEM cart is sluggish but doesn’t have this problem. Shift to DH and it will quickly accelerate to 19-21 mph and then it hits a flat spot and won’t go any faster on the level or climbing a hill. Downhill it has will pass through that dead spot and once it reaches 23 will again accelerate strongly again up to 26-27mph (even up hills).
My 7hp GE motor was just rebuilt by Rodney, and he loaned me a 5 hp to test, it ran perfectly without any hesitations right from zero to 30. BTW it IS a 12:44 gear ratio. The power is controlled by a T-4 from a LithiumGod Extended Range Di-lithium pack. It is running a Magic Magnet, and switched to kilometers, numbers are close to accurate.
I calculate 4000 RPM where the dead spot begins, and my V-max of 27mph is turning 5000 rpm.
I’m guessing someone has seen exactly this issue and can offer some words of wisdom.
