I have two original electric fans mounted on the dash of my 2007 E2. They no longer stand up on their “ball” bases. They come apart in the middle. Is there any way to repair this?
I find this post unclear on what the failure actually is.
The ball mounts are not tight?
Or
the stems are coming apart in the middle?
Can you post a pic? (use this tool)
Hose clamp?

I tried hose clamps and vice grips.
Man, I would have thought one of the small hose clamps was going to be the answer.
I think I have one of those fans. Let me go look at the mount and see if it is the same and what you might do.
How easy does yours pop in/out of the socket?
What kind of tools do you have access to? (Thinking a dremel with a cutoff disc, or perhaps a hacksaw blade?)
It just doesn’t stay in the socket no matter how hard you push down. I’ve tried bending the socket around the ball the fans work fine. They just won’t stand up. I’m in my mid 70’s with leukemia which has somewhat depleted my stamina and I don’t really want to remove the dashboard to replace the fans with new ones and I have no one to help me. “Pitty party”. So that why I’m reaching out to you guys. The closest repair shop is 75 miles away and I can’t get away that long because I’m the caregiver for my wife with Multiple Sclerosis. “Pitty party again”.
