This applies to the 2016 + Gems. I’m looking for the 2 different sized plastic trim pieces that fit into slots on the inside of the aluminum roof hoops. Example where the grab handles mount and they run wiring. B4 we go down this rabbit hole the inside aluminum hoop has a Large Slot ( on the bottom) & a Small Slot. ( on the top) the top slot seems to be referred to as a “T slot” here is what Gem is referring to it by
It looks like this upper slot is pretty common and can be found even on Amazon for way cheaper than what Gem sells it for. I’m just not sure of the size. It looks like T slot molding comes in many different sizes.
So the next question is, what are they calling the larger gap? It doesn’t quite look like T slot, but it looks close.
I was wondering the same thing. I’ve bookmarked a couple things on eBay that I was going to order after Christmas because I won’t be home during the holiday and don’t want the box just sitting outside.
I’ve added front and rear dash cams as well as Homelink in my GEMs so I have a little bit of wiring I want to cover up.
Here is a cross section of a T-Slot extrusion
Could someone measure the 2 different gaps on a gem car the Gap we need measured is marked out in Yellow Highlight the gap that needs to be measured to get the correct T-slot Molding
Hey, thank you very much for taking those measurements. I have sent them to the company.
80/20 that sent me that diagram and let’s see what they come back with
The company 80/20 that makes this stuff sells the Molding on Amazon, but they don’t show the Size of the gap? They refer to it as (fits 10 & 25 series)
And FYI gem sells 1” (5 foot piece) of molding for $32 and You can buy 10” 6-foot pieces of it for $26 on Amazon. It might be nice to install this stuff on the outside rail of the Gem, I keep getting oak leafs stuck in that track
Our 40 series extrusions measure .320" and our 45 measure .398" roughly.
I would not have anything that measures and fits in a .335, or .360 slot with certainty.
