Maruti Ertiga was recently unveiled by Maruti Suzuki India at the 11th Auto Expo and now this largest carmaker of the country is all geared up for the launch on 12th April 2012 in New Delhi. Ertiga is expected to fall in the price bracket of Rs. 7- Rs 9 lakh and is said to be competing neck-to-neck with the segment best selling cars Toyota Innova and Mahindra Xylo.
Honda Motors is planning on rolling out its first product of the compact MPV segment in order to rival the recently launched Maruti Ertiga under the code named 2NH by the end of the year 2014. The three-row seven-seater compact utility vehicle will be sitting on the same platform as the next generation Honda Jazz. In certain car markets of Asia, Honda sells an MPV based on the Jazz platform known as the Freed MPV; the said neoteric MPV will emerge as the next generation model of the Freed MPV. The engine expected to be doing duty in the petrol guise of 2NH compact MPV will be the 1.5-liter iVTEC petrol motor which also powers the upgraded version of Honda City. On the other hand the diesel version of this Honda MPV will be extracting power from the all new 1.4 or 1.6 liter engine that is currently under construction.
