I purchased an almost unused eZip hybrid mountain-bike style with 2 batteries in the fall of 2012. I’ve used it only a few times before winter set in but so far, so good.
I do have a couple of comments for those who may be considering these electric hybrid bikes.
-
They’re heavy with the lead-acid batteries. If you can swing it, get the lithium battery model instead.

The frames are cheap, heavy, Chinese industrial type and don’t do much for Currie’s reputation. I have another semi-off-road bike which weighs half what the Currie does (even without the batteries).
I will say though that without this electric assist I would never ride a bicycle so it’s worth the drawbacks (to me) to help me get in shape.
