How did Tesla beat Google to first autonomous vehicle?

Even though many people believe that Elon Musk is all talk, there is no doubt that this week’s software rollout for the Tesla Model S was worth waiting for. In effect the software upgrade allows for autonomous driving by the ever popular Tesla Model S which effectively means the car thinks for its self.

How did Tesla beat Google to the first commercial autonomous vehicle?

I am not sure that autonomous vehicles are my thing - what about anyone else?

Simple, Google likes to tease the press before delivering, Tesla delivers and then teases the press :slight_smile:

But has Tesla actually released a fully autonomous car? Under the hype I don’t think they are there yet!
