Hi guys new here. I just purchased a 2002 gem 825 from the action replaced batteries. When I try driving seems like the motor goes off and on. Very little power to the wheels. They will start stop start stop and so on please advise thank you
Need to clarify/describe this a bit more before I can point you in a proper direction.
Q–> When you apply pedal, the car tries to move, and goes how far before it quits?
Q–> What is done to get the car moving again? Do you feather/cycle the pedal?
-or- Does it go again on it’s own?
Q–> Observe the dash, Does it /flicker/go dark, then come back on?
Q–> Are there any error codes (numbers with a dash and a red light over the wrench)
Or - perhaps the car is real jumpy at start/stop as you are trying to get going? Also accompanied might be the sound of sizzling/popping bacon coming from under the hood?
If so, This this may indicate your motor needs a service.
Q–> When was the last time this car was working properly? (these cars hate sitting)
You might have dirty comms and/or one or more stuck brushes. It is not good to try to run your car (under load) in this condition. If real bad, the sparking that occurs can introduce huge voltage spikes that can damage the controller.
If minor- Sometimes running the car with the front wheels off the ground (not loading the motor) will clean off the comms and it will settle down. It may even unstick a brush. Usually the better path would be to remove the motor and get it serviced.
