Recession affects electric car revolution

Sure am awaiting your thoughts on this…

Hi Jose

While many people are still very keen to call the bottom of the electric car market the fact is that the worldwide recession has not helped the situation. However, the very fact that car manufacturers have invested billions upon billions of dollars into the industry means that many have now gone beyond the point of no return and will need to support the industry in the short to medium term.

Forecasting electric car sales in the short term is going to very difficult and will depend to a large extent upon the worldwide economy, but in the longer term there is certainly scope for enormous growth. The environmental impact, reduced fuel costs and significant financial incentives from governments around the world will eventually make a massive difference. It is ironic that those who are spreading negative rumours about the electric car market are still supporting the traditional fuel car industry which is having a massive impact on inflation around the world due to the cost of oil.
