Usually, the heater circuit involves a relay, but perhaps it was rewired by the PO?
The fan side uses 12v, and it activates a high current relay that provides power to the 72v heating element. Don’t get these two circuits mixed up.
The only item this diagram does not show is the thermal fuse on the 12v side. If the heaging coil turns on without the fan(fan motor stuck, or air flow blocked), the whole unit shuts down to keep your car from burning up.
That switch does not look like a factory GEM
switch. If you can find a maker and part number, look up the connect diagram. The amount of connect points on it hints that it may be a lighted switch.
The cable in the picture is an OME part I found out from Gem they don’t make it anymore and they don’t make the toggle switch anymore so it’s not an aftermarket or an add-on the switch of the cable or original for that fan motor and defroster I’m just looking to see if anybody switch and cable and could help me plug it into the right connections so I can put this back together. The cable number is 0106–00672. That’s the new supposed to keep the number because the old one was discontinued. The original cable number is 0106–00595. That’s a heater control switch assembly. It comes sold as one piece.
