Could Tesla really lose top spot?

It seems that every major car company in the world is now looking towards electric vehicles with some at the luxury end seemingly targeting Tesla. Could Tesla really lose its top spot in the world of luxury electric cars or is this just media talk?

In all honesty we have been here a number of times but the company is still leading the luxury end of the market.

In my opinion, this is a win-win for Tesla. If they remain the top spot, that is great for them. If another manufacturer overtakes them but uses batteries from their upcoming Tesla battery manufacturing plant, a win again for Tesla. Kind of wonder if that’s why they opened their patents to the public (to create more demand for their batteries).

Competition will stimulate TESLA to keep improving and the competitors to keep reaching. The end result is that, over time, an improved vehicle will come out of the process. Ultimately an automobile that may even cost less to the consumer.

Competition is good whichever way you look at it. Some are saying Tesla will suffer from the “first to market curse” but Tesla is a different animal from anything we have seen before. Elon Musk is the teflon kid - no matter how bad the news it just doesn’t stick.
