I think I burnt out my ANT BMS. It kind of smells like a burnt plastic and beeps nonstop until I unplug it. BMS app lists CHGMosErr. This is the 2016 E4 that @Erniea15 converted to high voltage with a @Inwo tesla pack. Any recommendations on a replacement BMS? Easy to do on my own or will I need one of my local San Diego experts assistance?
I think i remember this car. Does this car also have one of those 8kwAC motor kits ?
Are you sure it is a 2016? (It might be a transition car).
I think I have one of those ANT BMS on my “Bought it and never did anything with it” shelf.
@smspring I totally dropped the ball on balancing that cell a while ago… guessing you solved that. I’m spinning too many plates.
I think I have a spare ANT in my garage too… If I can find it. Let me dig around.
The swap should be easy. Just grab a snapshot of all the settings.
Sounds like someone’s safeword.
Or maybe its the name of a new city on Tatoine in Star Wars.
@Erniea15 had an extra in his garage, thank you. What do I need to know before I install this?
It’s been a while since I’ve installed an ANT. Off the top of my head, turn off charge and discharge in the bms app.
i just noticed the andersen plug on the B- side. Looks like the guys made this easy to remove later. Disconnect that first. That should kill the power to everything and safe to work with.
Disconnect the wire going to B+ on the battery (it will be one of the smaller ones in the balance harness… looking at the picture, i think there’s a barrel connector), unplug the balance lead harness starting from the high side, then disconnect the blue and black wires on the bms.
Then just reverse the process. You’ll have to restore all your settings manually.
@AssyRequired does that sounds right to you? I think you were the last to mess with the pack after making some design upgrades when we learned from mine getting wet.
New ANT from @Erniea15 installed. The old one was definitely fried, see pic. I changed the BMS settings for battery type, pack capacity and cells. Any other settings I am missing? @AssyRequired @JarJarJava @Inwo
Are there any cell voltage parameters? like low voltage settings?
Are you able to drive the car with the new BMS?
Hey, do you see anything reading “LV…”, Obviously not, and, I don’t either.
You must have given him the broken & defective one.
Nice going… dick…

How’s the universe treating treating you these days Ernie?
Kind of almost vanishing from the interwez not long after stariing your own Network Security Consulting had some of us considering starting a pool. “Who nicked Ernie?” “North Korea?” “Iraq?” “The damn Russians?” “Donald Trump, who hired the same 5 operators he used to merc Epstein, because they did do a decent job, but mostly because they offered a 'Buy one and your next purchase is 35% off. AND for the first 10 people with deposits paid will receive a complimentary gift card good for $100 at Outback SteakHouse, Long John Silverss or $5.78 at Starbucks.” And we all know that man loves a good bargain and free gifts.
I burnt my ANY out by touching B+ to B-
I got a Replacement on Amazon. If it was me I would just buy the same one and plug and play.
I have not driven it yet as I wanted to see if anyone had comments on the settings
here are the current VParam settings
@JarJarJava 3 years in business today actually! Company bday! I’m out of smoked cheese though ![]()
Settings look ok to me… @AssyRequired @Inwo built the pack, he might have some thoughts. I say go drive it.
I had some notes from a previous install. I think these numbers look better than the default settings.
Start from these and see how they work. We can do some fine tuning depending on how they work for you.
I haven’t done more than a few very small batches in the last 3 years. There are a few people out there that I said I’d send some to right before I got hit with being too busy to deal with it.
One of these days…
