Auction gem

My new project.
Haven’t seen it yet.
2008
E4 hard doors
4 year old batteries
Bad controller and motor (is that likely?)
New stock wheels and tires
Heater
Box
6852 miles
Wisc. rust

Passed on the nice 12" wheels shown, stacked, with new tires. >$325

Dave

Yeah it’s possible. If motor shorted out and they kept trying to make it go. I did and it cost me a motor and controller rebuild.

HOWEVER:

First thing to do,before you do anything else is to pull the motor and check for Stuck brushes.

Rodney

What control would I expect? T3-T4

Will this program for more speed like my 2008 T3 in Tomberlin?

My Tomberlin came set at 225 and could be changed to 255.
If I need a new controller, I’ll have a choice, I guess.

Also said that left front wheel has some play.

Bushings?
As Grant got from you?

T4 controller Wheel bearings are common problem Ebay can supply - do all 4 corners - do all 4 brake cylinders. If brake cables are tight PM me they can be salvaged, although they are not that expensive. The bushing I sell are for version I shocks.

I have like 3 sets (6 total) of the Front Wheel clusters Hubs, Brakes, Drums ext. I took these off and did disc brake conversions these were the parts I didn’t use

Another local find. 2008 Nice.

I can’t buy em all. :frowning:

So David , did you pick that auction car up? If so what did you pay for it?

Pretty sweet. Nicer than the 2010 truck.
Batteries are old but up.

Code 66. Field current high. Hope it’s an easy fix. Field = 1.5 ohms-no leakage.

Probably just a minor control problem.
Lucky to have a spare truck to swap parts and readings.

It actually moved a foot before tripping, so it’s better than expected.

The field usually doesnt give trouble. How about the armature. Mine move too before it blew the control.

It’s in the control.

Looking good so far. I see a part that seems shorted. Never Know until it’s removed from circuitry. I’ve been fooled before!

Overall, T4 seem pretty easy to work on. If only schematics were available.:frowning:

Just looked E4 has 7hp motor.

Does control say 5hp?

I think I can fix it.

Looks like parts should be in tomorrow.

Haven’t done much else.

Not going to bother switching controllers until I see if it’s an easy fix.

Meanwhile I spent all afternoon working on another EV.
Trying to get “new batteries” to come back after abuse.
Rebuilding 24v controller.

Working great the last few days.
Controller works like new.:clap2:

You want to take a shot at m T1?

I’ll give it a shot. Least I can do.

Symptoms are, dumps data on power loss?

Otherwise it’s ok?

It will come in with no data. Correct?
I can load a few things and see if it dumps for me. Then I’ll know when it’s fixed.

Wouldn’t mess with EEPROM or processor. If it’s the 5v supply issue, I’d have a shot.

I’d hate to cost you more money by opening it up.
There is a limited amount I can check without inside information.
Got lucky on mine!
Anyone with a 66 error let me know.
There is a T2 on ebay for $400. Is that less than flat rate FSPI repair?

This E4 is turning out to be a sweet deal.

Motor is ok, controller is working.
Loose front wheel was just loose nut.

2012 trojan gels are working fine.
Charger is fine.
Heater problem was disconnected hoses.
Lights needed a few wiring tweaks and a bulb.
Brand new stock tires and wheels.
Utility box is like new.
All four doors work good.

A little rust on front suspension and a few minor battle scars on fenders. Over all looks good.

Not much else it needs!

Congrats… sounds like a nice truck. We have to get a good one now and them to make up for all the losers we buy. Your turn for a good one!
