Are my batteries dead?

2007 Gem e4, 6 Duracell batts about 2.5 year old and prob 300 cycles. Goes from full charge on the dash immediately to no charge and the turtle after about a mile and a half. I let them all get low on water and put way too many needless cycles on them. Is one possibly bad or I that about it for battery life?

I let my old batteries get too low on water. We stored our cart for the winter and didn’t get up to check on it for a month (it’s a 2015 with the battery tender feature). I was sick when I saw the code on the charger and found all the dry cells. I re-watered them and charged them individually on a good battery charger one at a time to “recondition” them. The volt meter built into the charger was a big help in getting them close to 12 volts each. Got another 2 years out of them before they finally were traded in on some Trojans. They were never the same after running them dry and I started the monthly water level check. I only go 1 mile or less to the beach and back so it was good enough for my usage. Now with the new batteries, we unplug and turn off the kill switch when we leave for the week so we don’t run up all the “needless cycles” and accidentally boil off all the water. Live and learn.

I have the duracells in my 2000 4 seater… they were good for about a year and then started degrading fast. At the time, I went cheap because I just bought the car with a mis-match of batteries; wanted to get the car running and make sure it worked before I put a bunch of money in batteries. After reading a ton of posts here, decided to take the lithium plunge. I’ve got chevy volt batteries and a BMS in my garage, ready to be installed.

2.5 years out of the wet cell duracells is probably what you’re going to get out of them.
