AC to cool battery?

Hi Folks,

Just bought a 2012 eFocus - really like it. Wondering how long one can drive with the climate system off completely to save elec? Or do I have to keep the AC going to keep the battery cool? Did I read that right in the manual? I thought I detected a slight burning odor the other day, made me a bit nervous. Any thoughts greatly appreciated.

In theory you will save amps by driving with out the air conditioner on. However the savings are not significant enough to make a big difference. Batteries don’t need your air conditioner to be in operation.
