Hey guys I don’t know if anybody can help me but I have a few of these gems I’ve been working on I have a 2015. I have the display lit up full volume from the batteries. I get the contactor to engage and a brief split-second of movement forward and then the contactor disengages and it will not move no error codes. Now I can only get it to engage when I reset the 24 pin plug on the controller. But still it only engages for a Split Second when I depress the gas pedal. Also occasionally getting some false error codes such as temperature and Brake
Clean that 23p connector on the controller with electrical contact cleaner and several blasts of air. Do it multiple times, plug it together all juiced up and rapidly in and out several times followed by another blast in the plug and in the socket.
A 2915 GEM? Holy crap. Does it look like this?
Ha! I didn’t even catch that.
I was going to ask him to test his batteries next but now I see that I would need to loan him my M/AM adapter for his DVM?
This new info explains quite a bit.
I believe there is known documentation (episodic footage) of that year constantly having issues leaving the passengers stranded somewhere.
I am very diasppointed to see that in 894 years we seem to have come full circle back to “flat as a sheet of plywood” body styling.
But so was the F117.
if it has the black motor and has not been run for an extended period, it is probably your motor. push the Gem 50 plus feet. it will clean the motor surfaces and then should drive.
Thanks I cleaned out connectors and moved it around and it runs like a champ. Still throwing false warning lights and codes. Oh and yeah I know 2015 haha
Probably could use a bit more cleaning out, but I went through this myself.
If it doesn’t stop throwing odd codes it might be worth taking the cover off the controller and making sure it is dry inside.
What is your history with this car? New to you?
Brand new just bought a few of these, I have 6. I’ve gotten 3 of them running so. These had similar problems. However 1 does not have power to the display and will not turn on period. So that will be the next projext/jr
One car at a time please. Best to start a new thread per issue or per car. Otherwise it is too difficult keeping track of multiple projects. Label them unique and descriptive in a way we can relate.
I was working with a guy on an issue over on FB when suddenly the issue fixed itself and he started asking for help on a bunch of other non related problems that had surfaced. I couldn’t figure out what was going on until he said “Oh, I sold that car to a friend. This is a new car.”
What is history?
I ask this to get a grasp on a diagnostic path.
You said, “New to You” which means I may need to start from a beginning point and assume it hasn’t worked in a while.
If you said, “Had it for years, and it worked great last week” I’d direct my questions more toward “What has changed recently”.
I thought the same thing while typing that, I’ll start a new thread for that one
