2015 e4s questions

Do I need to edit the programming to over ride the governor?

What are the bulb types for the headlamps? I haven’t found any info on the new models, are they same as older?

I’m a total newb to the GEM but not to modding vehicles.

I’m going to add either 17" or 16" rims and I’ve read where 4x100 fits perfect but IVe been told by a company who mods these things that I’ll need the spacers to make them fit the lug pattern. Any advice?

Ride for fun can reprogram your controller.

Going too big on the wheels can cause you handling problems and is tough on the drive train without modifications. I suggest 14 or 15 Max. 17s require body mods.

Look up the discussion on 4 vs 400 wheel spacing. There is about 1/16 inch difference.

Suggest you spend a couple of hours and read the posts in all 5 GEM threads, the battery and also the tech threads should answer about 90% of your questions.

I just read all the threads for the most part.

I couldn’t find a definitive answer the headlamps for a 2015. I saw H3 and then someone said they thought they were H12 after a certain yer.

I THINK you’ll find the later controllers have been factory programmed with “hardcoded” speed limit of 25MPH which isn’t adjustable. To circumvent this, I believe you’ll need to modify the speed sensor by removing a couple of magnets to fool the controller into thinking it’s only running at half-speed if your intent is to exceed the 25mph limit for LSV. R4F can give you the definitive answer on this.

Update: Rodney on another thread tells me it’s the T3 and T4 controller which have the hardcoded limit.

Great info to know. Also any word on headlamp type? I’m getting multiple responses…

I think I’d pull the bulb from your existing headlights and take it to the nearest NAPA store. Nothing like having the parts “in hand” when buying a replacement! At a minimum you could determine the P/N from the existing bulb.

Or if it’s a 2015 E4, ask the dealer. They should know the specs about the latest GEMs. I’ve not found my local dealer very knowledgeable about earlier models.

Looks like it’s not an H3. Just popped it out. It’s been a while since I’ve dealt with these kinds of bulbs but it’s similar to my blinkers on my Range Rover.

I’m new so I haven’t reached the 5 post limit to post urls to images.

Ok I posted 5 times now but I still can’t share images??

Here’s the partial link it’s missing the prefix and the dot in com i.imgur com/femyshL.jpg?

1157? Has the two node things on the bottom where it snaps into the receptical.

I am running 17" rims with 245/45/17’s but see the thread I just posted. You will have some issues to deal with.

I saw that, prob going with the 16" now.

What’s the deal with innovation motorsports? Horrible customer service… For a niche field you think they would be trying harder to serve people who are looking to make purchases…

When the heck can I post pics? Admin can you help?

its an h6 of some sort, but this bulb is what they use in small mopeds/scooters- B35 style

You might consider reducing the size of the photo before publishing.

I fixed it.

In defense of Innovation Motorsports, I purchased my cart from them several years ago and it was generally a positive experience. I suspect they are more interested in selling rebuilt/custom carts than parts and that may be part of the problem if you’re looking for parts or advice. OR they may have just had a “bad hair day” or perhaps Dustin was on vacation/sick and they were simply overwhelmed.

Yeah at first they got back, but then they went MIA. I was talking about swapping my entire brand new cart out for a custom one… sent like 5 emails over the past few days.

Maybe they’re just busy or on vacay… but whatever it is, its not the best customer service.

17s will work. But what you need to look out for is the width of the tire and wheel. And the Off sett. I know the rear fenders a a bit diffrent on the newer ones.

But on the 2002 in the rear the wheel needs to sit directly in he center of the fender to give you the best chance of clearance. Then the rear fender will need to be raised up. (no big deal) But if you get big o tires then you have your work cut out for you. I went with 195/35/17’s

thats a 17inc wheel that is 7.5 inch wide with a 195 stretched over it. That allows me to run the fender real close to the tire. If you get bigger wider tires, ten you need to start jacking up the fender higher and higher to clear where the sides of the tire will rub

I have a 2015 e4 stakebed so the rear fender is not an issue.

That’s the EXACT color I’m painting mine. Can you send other pics
