With brand new Deka GEL batteries installed and fully charged, I noticed the BDI was not updating (showing only single red bar). So I found the process to manually change the state of charge (see below). However, as I went through this process, I inadvertently changed the setting for ‘Batt’ instead of the ‘SOC’ as indicated below. I don’t recall what the OEM setting was for ‘batt’, so I am wondering what this setting is for and what the default is. I was thinking perhaps battery type, thinking maybe it corresponds to the battery type of the charger. I am ordering a service manual, with hopes this may be in the manual, but it will be several weeks before I get it. As a side note, the reason I am asking the question is I am noticing that the BDI does not appear to be updating as the batteries are discharged from use. I suspect its because I changed the ‘Batt’ setting that is causing this.
Process I followed:
Turn the key on.
Push and release the TRIP/ODOMETER switch until it’s showing the odometer.
While holding the switch down, turn the RIGHT signal on, then the LEFT
signal, then return the blinker to the center.
Release the TRIP/ODOMETER switch. You should be seeing data (P0105) on
the display now.
Turn the RIGHT signal on, then off repeatedly until the display reads:
SOC (State Of Charge).
Push and release the TRIP/ODOMETER switch. Now it’s remaining capacity in
percent.
You can now raise (or lower, for that matter) the SOC with the blinker
switch.
When you’re happy, Push and release the TRIP/ODOMETER switch. The display
reads: DONE.
Turn the key off.
