Hello! I want to do a fluid change on my 01 Gem. All I see is a rubber grommet/plug on the driver side of the diff. Is that where I pump the fluid from? Any info/direction will be much appreciated.
Yep. You will probably have to use a slurp gun, pump, fluid syringe, wet & dry vac or something similar to suck the old oil out. You can remove the diff cover and drain, but that’s a pain in the ass as IIRC, the cover hold down bolts are also the support bracket bolts, so you have to get the front end up and support everything. .
Takes about 16oz of oil. OEM spec is SAE30, which was done to eek out a bit more range from the battery pack. If you would prefer not to have to listen to the gear clatter, then use 75W gear oil.
