Hello everyone, my name is James and I am a EV enthusiast and blogger, I look forward to joining the discussion on Electric Forum.

Hi everyone, I’m new here. I’m thinking of switching to an EV and I hope to gather as much info as possible before doing so. Looking forward to learn from y’all!

How do I post a new question in the GEM forum?

That actual button appears every now and then, then disappears. It seems to be a template error on the page.

Shortcut is to just tap the “c” key on your keyboard (c - create new topic). This opens the editor window. Depending on what you are viewing, the editor sometimes copies some info and inserts it into your editor.

Clear out all the info that does not apply, select a new subject and which tags apply that will help people find your post.

Assyrequired I have a technical question for you or anyone that can help; 2018 Polaris gem E-2 batteries are (4) 12 volt LEOCH AGM 6-E-120AH Polaris #4015462. Polaris dealer/parts counter people say they can’t get them , Representative from “ LEOCH” contacted advised they are no longer in stock ! My question is, can I drop in another Group 31 12 volt AGM DEEP CYCLE 120 AH Batteries (4) without having to mess with the on board DELTA Q MODEL # 912-4854-05 charger will it charge them ,can I up the AH Of the batteries that I purchase to 130-135 AH AGM ? Will the charger handle it ? I live in a hilly area and the more AH would help for the hills. What would be the maximum of AH the charger could effectively charge ? I would really appreciate your help or anyone else who could assist me.

No practical limit to ah. At worse, charger will time out and need another cycle.
More ah will not help on hill. The extra weight will only slow you down.
You may be near a member who could set you up with a light weight battery that has trice the range.
Are you near Costa Mesa?

Hello all.
The way the forum is configured, I can start my own into thread, so I’ll tag on here.
I’m 68, semi-retired, NorCal resident and have been tinkering with scale model and full size electric vehicles since the early 1970s, but with my first practical project an electric scooter in 2001, with just enough range on a full charge to get me to work about 10 city blocks away. It was an office job at a local bank in Cincinnati, Ohio and seeing an adult in a business suit riding a scooter people typically associated with kids provided my Over-the-Rhine neighbors, shop owners, and co-workers with a daily dose of comic amusement.

These days I live in a very bike friendly town in the East Bay, and my daily rider is a white 2019 Rad-City Step-Thru with a few mods, including waterproof panniers large enough for a week or two of groceries. For longer distances, I take my bike on the BART or SMART train, and if it’s odd hours or location, I use my Zipcar rideshare subscription, which has converted to an electric fleet.

I’m currently focused on a trans oriented community design, with a scale model smart-grid to smart road proof of concept for high efficiency, near-field microwave beam powered vehicles with unique safety features. I’m open to collaborators.
