Has anyone hacked this for a 2018 yet?

I have files for the 6.5kw motor. It seems you would be a good candidate for a controller swap.

What battery do you have?

Not home right now but I have above picture on my phone. Will check it when I get back.

what would the controller swap get me?

battery: 6v, 224Ah @C20

No more than speed box. You would need high voltage battery to really open up the potential. Keep it in mind if you ever swap batteries.

@eltakeiteasy - Perhaps you should start off with what you want/need out of the car? What do you plan to do with it? What is it not doing for you?

Most new owners wander in here realizing that these cars are fun, but that quickly fades when they realize it is severely hobbled (in stock form- legally and physically) and more is wanted.

#1 request is turning up top speed. This can be done, but has drawbacks. More speed exposes the limits of the standard battery pack.
Speed EATS up range. Even if new or recently replaced, especially if your present Lead Acid pack is aged a bit. It will only give you a taste of what your car is capable of. Plan on upgrading your pack to something newer.

What happens quite often is even when cart is turned up to 11, the new cart owner has a change of thought (or in life) and the cart is no longer useful. Now the cart is sold off to someone that has no idea how to work on it, and no longer being stock there is no shop that knows what to do with it.

Make sure you know what you are getting into and don’t be that guy.

I had the same pack you have. About a half dozen times. Never lasted more than a year. Swapped out for two 100ah batteries that gave me way more range and far less expensive than lead. Give it some thought when the time comes. And it’s plug and play. You’re delta q will play nice with this setup.

@ledft - since you jumped in, can you provide some real data on your setup?
Looks like 2) 51.2v 100ah LifePO4 in parallel

How long have these batteries been installed?
Since you have them wired parallel, are you having any issues keeping them balanced? (keep a close eye on this)
Is the DQ charging them high enough?
What (if any) speed mods have you done?
What kind of speed are you now running and appx range at that speed?
What terrain? (flat?, hills?)

Yes. Two 100ah 51.2v LifePo4 in parallel.

I put them in my 2016 E4 a few years ago. Can’t remember exactly when. I don’t drive it very often but it gets close to 80 mile range. I drive on flat roads. 25MPH. No speed mods. Didn’t need all that range but enjoy going for 30 to 40 miles with the factory heat on and not worrying about getting home.

The delta q charges them perfectly with the 28 profile that was originally set up for distance pack AGM batteries.

Every cell has stayed perfectly balanced since I’ve had them. I generally leave it stored at 50% to 60% and charge it up if I expect to use it for company.

Then I have a 2024E2 that I installed the same setup in. I could have gotten new AGMs under warranty but for about $800 a piece, I just went with LifePo4 for a permanent fix.

The 2024 went with a Lester charger I believe and it seems to be playing well with the same battery setup. That car gets used just about every day. Been about a year now with no issues so it already outlasted any AGMs I’ve ever had. Same 80 mile range which is far more than I need but can use factory heat all I want. Probably going to speed it up after the warranty expires.

I keep an eye on cell voltage and it’s stayed perfectly balanced weather I charge it fully or just do opportunity charging.

I’ve been really happy with this setup in both cars.

Thanks I have the speed box right now and I am getting a little over 35 mpg with the current set up. Range is not an issue at the moment but this is great info.

I am happy with the cart as is. I am getting great range and going fast enough for my needs. Any more than 35mph and I would swap batteries.

This is great info thank you! These batteries are still from 2016. I have been pretty particular in how I charge / store them.

Do you have a link for these batteries? I will likely need to replace them in the next 12 months.
