EVs make up just 0.9% of new car sales in the US

Sometimes we need to stop and consider the hype surrounding the electric vehicle market because recent information shows that EVs accounted for just 0.9% of new car sales in the US. These figures for 2016 were up from 0.7% in 2015 and, to give the overall picture, of the cars on the road today in the US about 0.3% are electric powered.

When will we see mass take-up of electric vehicles? What will it take to give motorists more confidence in electric vehicles?
