Another lithium conversion

I just got back from a 35 to 40 mile cruise……

Pompano Beach to Deerfield Beach back to Pompano Beach, then to Lauderdale by the Sea, then to Fort Lauderdale beach, taking multiple laps in the tourist zone, then back to Pompano for a couple of beers at The Briny, then home.

32% battery remaining.
30.9ah remaining capacity
79.22volts

I still want to see how far I can go on a single charge, but I am slowly working my way to that.

Here are some observations……

It seems like the cart has gotten slightly faster. Last week, I was able to hit 40 mph with just me in the car. Today I saw 40mph several times with a adult passenger, 200lb’s.

Once the batteries went under 50%, it seemed like it didn’t have the same pep, but I was able to do 36mph consistently, while seeing the speedometer bounce between 36 and 38. Remember, I only see half speed. However, it was also a warmer outside temp too. There was a lot of beach traffic, so I wasn’t able to let it go either. So I might be wrong about lack of pep.

I am extremely happy with the conversion to say the least. It is great. No range anxiety whatsoever. Sure, I am still going to convert The Green Lantern to a commercial charging outlet, so that I can take advantage of the numerous local charging stations. I probably don’t need too, but why not?

I really enjoy The Green Lantern. So many people take its picture, or take selfies while sitting in it. It always strikes up a conversation, especially when the headliner is all lit up. It’s fun. I have yet to see another car as cool as mine and we have street legal golf carts all over the place. Mine is just so unique.

I also get those that want to buy it from me. It’s not for sale. However, I have begun to tell people I’ll take 20 grand. That usually ends that conversation. Lol

I will keep this thread updated. My goal is to go over 50 miles on a charge. At some point I will do a range run, but still happily working my way to that!

How do you recal your dash? 2017 E6

Which batteries did you get?

Working on a Dash recalibration but afaik is not ready yet

You managed 35/40 out of a 22s SDI pack???
Nice!
Who did your controller programming?

I bet the PO of Green Lantern really regrets selling it after reading this post.

Once the batteries went under 50%, it seemed like it didn’t have the same pep

How are you judging the SOC at 50%? Are you using the BMS App? or monitoring Pack Voltage?

Realize and feel good that when you are at 50%, you are still around the “fresh off the charger” feeling of how the old LA packs felt and quickly fell off.

J1772 Charging
I think @Inwo might have a few of his chargers that work on a J1772 power station still available. It may be set a little low for a 22s pack tho-

Or @djgabriel2004 had this pigtail adapter you can either carry with you for emergencies but you need to get under your hood and plug it into your charger input.

Just an update……

After downloading a speed app, I have realized that my cart can consistently go over 40mph. When I drive it with just myself after charging it, I can get to 42 or 43mph. Maybe 44. My wife and I together can go an honest 40mph.

Last Saturday night, I am leaving a beach bar, and this guy wants to race me with his cart. He is extremely cocky and completely convinced he is going to turn me into his ■■■■■, with his highly modified 4 Seat EZ-Go golf cart. He has no idea what I have under the hood, all he knows is that he has beaten every golf cart he has raced so far. Sure, he had a ton of modifications, and I must admit, when he jumped out in front of me, I thought, holy sh!t. However, that was short lived. He had only a top speed of 38mph and I easily reeled him in and passed him iin less than 100 yards. The funny thing is…… I ended up buying him a beer when we were done. Go figure. Lol

Now…… I need to address the brakes. Let’s face it, the brakes were not designed for 40mph plus and it shows!

I have NO range anxiety whatsoever. Even if I go over 30 miles, my BMS says I still have approx 50% of battery left. This is typical when I go cruise Fort Lauderdale beach. I have yet to go on such a long cruise in which I use more than 50% of the charge, and I go on long cruises weekly.

I love my cart! I am very thankful that I found Gabriel, Imwo, and this site, or I would not have the wonderful Gem that I do. It’s awesome and perfect now!

If you are thinking about converting your Gem and you live in SoFlo, Gabriel is who you want to contact. Just saying. I am glad I did!
