Do you have a programmer? That would be easy to check.
I dont recall exactly if there was a “regen on brake depress” or not on my 10.
However there was most definitely a “regen on pedal lift (accelerator)” setting… I had that set very high so i could mostly drive with just the accelerator.
There is also another regen setting, for how much or quickly it comes on. If thats set too high, it’ll jerk your seat belt pretty good.
There is a hardcoded lower speed limit though where all that turns off on the older carts. 10 or 15mph iirc.
I might suggest putting the suspected bad pedal in the 05 and that will at least let you know if your pedal is bad. Also check your speed magnet for damage and possibly switch the speed sensor with the one from your 05. Years ago I had similar problems with my 08 and it was the speed sensor, it would work fine in L and act up in H
Finally success?
Yesterday I took the car out for some serious testing, and everything worked perfectly. The key switch worked easily and properly. The car had charged overnight and display showed 10 bars, no codes. It backed out in reverse smoothly, and I took off in Low range. Again, smooth and quick acceleration to 15-16 mph. I drove around town stopping, starting, accelerating, and decelerating with car performing perfectly. So I switched to high, it smoothly and quickly went up to 25-26 mph. I did aggressive braking, coasting, direction and speed changes with no problems. I drove it 6.5 miles total, and took it home to put on the charger. It had gone down 3 bars which I considered normal. I opened the hood and felt the controller which was slightly warm. The motor felt fairly hot to the touch, but I had been driving it pretty hard.
I am thinking that the original pedal was definitely the major problem, but also cleaning the quick disconnects may have solved the “Multiple Personality Disorder,” which is a good thing since I know of no GEM psychotherapists around here. I will do driving tests again today, and let you know if Mr. Hyde reappears.
Meanwhile I will wait to see if you have a good pedal (or can rebuild
mine) to get the 05 back on the road.
We replaced bad 09 pedal back in 05 and it acted as it did in the 09. Looking for replacement, so far no luck. Also looked at front brakes on 09, and they are fine and working properly.
