Also wanted to send this, looks like this isn’t the first time this has been an issue.

Sorry but that looks like a real hack job. If someone paid for that.. oh damn..
Now that I see this, I have a question.
What controller is mounted in this car?
Look at the big hairy part number and pick out the last two characters. Does it end with a T4 or T5?
It ends in T5, INWO has already sent out the POT BOX, is that going to matter now?
@Pythan I didn’t pay for this one lol, but this may be why the previous owner abandoned it and bought something new.
It’s still in the out box for tomorrow. I’ll test it on a T5. I’m surprised that pedal bolted in. The T5 hall pedal mounts differently.
I have time to unpack it and test it on a T5. 2008 should be a T4.
@Inwo - Pointing out this is a 2008. It normally uses a T4 and a resistor pedal. Previous owner was talked into a T5 (possibly the T4 was blown up?) and one of these new “hall” modified pedals (which was my clue that the controller was up changed).
Someone paid a lot of money and still not have a working car.
Come on esse, you know how it is, “the bigger da glob da bettah the job”
I think that it looks like someone may have used elmers school glue to seal the casing was a nice touch.

I’d question if someone was in this throttle after R$F serviced it. In my experience, R$F loves to slap their name on things, even stuff they didn’t really have anything to do with; their motors are just rebadged D&D Systems motors, their SuperCharger is a box stock Quick Charge Corp SCO-7210 with the charginging lockout option, their wheels aren’t their manufacturer or design either. But, they generally don’t sell junk. They usually sell quality product, they just keystone the price…
Now, this being a repair rather than a new part. i could be totally wrong. /shrug
Byron, the OP had a 2008, @hzlblue has a 2011.
Typical confusion when threads get tacked on to. Can’t totally blame @hzlblue though the b way the forum interface is set up.
the OP had a 2008, @hzlblue has a 2011.
D’Oh! You are correct.
My assessment still stands tho- I believe this car originally had a T4. The T5’s didn’t start till '13 (IIRC).
You may be right. I don’t recall exactly when the change occurred. 2010 year was definitely a T4, that i can say with extreme certainty.
Isnt the manufacturing date somewhere on the T3, T4, T5 controllers too?
@hzlblue does your T5 controller have anything like “FSIP” or “Flight Systems …” or “Rebuilt” “remanufactured” or an R$F sticker on it?
The good news is the T5 is backwards compatible. Only one resistor was changed. As me how I know and how many days work to find out. ![]()
My pot box is tested with T3, T4, T5.
T5 hall throttle will not work on T3-T4. Not enough current available on 5v supply.
The 1/2 hall adaptation shown must just squeak by. Can’t wait to get one on the bench.
LOL… I’ve had my share of long nights trying troubleshooting phone system issues for my job.
Was this gem parked at the bottom of a lake?
Lower right corner. 03-06-2014
Definitely not the original controller.
Byron called that one…
@Inwo how do you know? ![]()
Just wanted to send out an update. I got the Pot Box today, I got it all connected and I’m rolling…
Works really well, 26mph in Low, I hit 42mph in High, but that’s in my neighborhood. I don’t plan to drive it outside of our neighborhood. I think the only thing it needs now is new brakes. Thanks again for everything!
I sent a prepaid envelope, if you would be so kind as to stick the old one in the mail. I think it would help me help others.
Ty for checking back in. You would be surprised how many hit and runs we get here.
Ps. What skill level do you think is required to upgrade throttle?
I need to locate the outer casing, I’ll get it to the post office Monday morning. It took me about 30min to drill out the old rivets and attach with the new bolts you sent. I used some lock nuts and washers instead of the standard nuts you sent along. I would say some mechanical knowledge is necessary. If you can change a flat tire, you should be good to do this.
