Understanding lithium for Gems

Full Volt packs from the junkyard seem pretty easy to come by. Also straightforward to break down. The trick is finding something to do with the extra packs if you’re only powering 1 GEM. @Pornelas is considering Volt. You guys could split one?

I might have someone that would take 4x12s if you are breaking a battery down?

What would this fit in?
Just starting to put something together. This is 24s 90ah total stacked 3 high.
2 high is 60ah 24s.

Each module I can sell for $250 unconfigured. DIY
There are 3 types with small differences which I can explain. I will pick the right ones to custom stack and wire to bms. (more money)

These are smaller than volts, but new. 30 vs 50 ah
Nicely packaged though.

I’m ready to start building this. Will it fit anything 3 high? 13.5"
How about 3 wide (18"+) and 2 high (10") ?
I have enough for two 90ah 24s batteries.
Will also sell as shown, unassembled.

This battery pack is 16 long, 15 wide and 13.5 tall. Fits between frame rails. Height will be very close.

You vote yes? On the configuration shown above.
Well all righty then!

I only measure the Bolt battery as 5" x 2 = 10" high.

I think you would only need to modify the seat bracket to get the height. It has that triangle piece that comes down in the front that might hit ?? @LithiumGods

My 5.5 module Leaf Gen 4 pack fits about the same but with a little more space towards front of batt tray. I use 2 2x4’s on edge and 3/4" plywood to protect from debris coming up from road through open flooring.

Boy I like how most all of the modules you guys are showing are sealed up. The Leaf modules are in thin metal tins but there are many openings at the top where you can see the lithium bags and stuff could get in there. I only covered with plastic and one of these days I might try to close that whole compartment from the outside through the bottom.

What’s the price for the 90ah and what kind of range do you think it will get? I know 90 ah isn’t much but I remember people saying that you get more range out of similar rated lithium batteries than lead.

IMHO - 90ah with Lithium is quite a bit, I have several people around here running ~55 - 65ah and having no issues. they are getting around 15ish miles on a charge. E4’s a little more on E2’s.

Dave my Bolt pack Is 3 tall.15+ tall. @MikeKC , I remove all of the seat brackets on the Gem’s I do. Just use velcro on seat bottom . Works great

Modules are $250 each x 6 = $1500 only. Complete custom pack will be $2500.
Almost done, I’ll get a picture less bms.

Less bms and straps to tie,it all together.
1st picture is the neutral end showing all the copper series parallel bars.
2nd is power end red and black.

I will make aluminum straps connecting all the studs shown on each side of the assembled battery.

5/16" all thread is for alignment. Holes will be left open for mounting in vehicle with through bolts.

More straps and handles.

Be careful of adding panels on the sides. Apple may come after your for stealing their designs.

Next step, build a harness to terminate 72 cells.

What could possibly go wrong?

as Elmer Fudd would say, “Be vewwy vewwy careful.”

Not successful making the Tesla shorter than 40".
Just got some brand new batteries perfectly suited for a 72v Gem.
24x16x7 for 100ah or 24x16x14 high 200ah.

Also upgraded the Honda battery to 120ah. Should fit better now.
