I’m thinking buying a 2018 elxd I found, debating on whether I should do it. I have a 08 elxd…….that I haven’t really driven since I bought my 18 em1400. Wondering if I should spring for it, I like my em1400, especially after having @Inwo remove the speed limiter. Dave, I know you have had both what’s your preference between the 2? what’s it going to cost me to get a elxd to do 35mph?(not including batteries)
- Change gears and swap torque for speed. Rodney or r4f
- Reprogram vcm, Gabe
- Speedbox, Gabe
- Jailbreak car, put in a genetic controller. Works best with lithium and hv. (44v to 88v) New gen4 80v controllers from me are $550. Harness and support $250.
New Gems preferred hands down.
My vote is 1+4+high voltage
The 2016+ is a much different car, for the better if you ask me
I agree the new versions are better than the old, but are they better than my jail broke em 1400? I wouldn’t want to give up the torque with a gear change, just need to get it up to 35-45 mph range.
35 with stock gearing. High voltage gives lots of torque.
My 2018 with gabes speedbox and my big lithium battery will spin the tires(and they are larger performance tires) power is great.
Speedbox and new controller are about the same money, so it’s a tough choice…
Plug in fix or do you like access to all performance, regen, and 3 drive profiles.
Not plug and play.
Nothing beats an eM1400.
Let me explain…
Fake rocks held down with magnets in the bed.
An A-hole tailgaiter horn honker gets behind you.
Activate the power bed dump switch…
Good times.
