I know what you mean about the speed. I had a number of motorcycles (a Norton Commando, a couple of Ducatis, etc.) but have given them up because I’m bit too old for that game. But I have a little Honda Ruckus to tool around town on, and 37mph or so on that seems downright dangerous—I much more enjoy going 25mph on it, and even then you have to watch everyone else on the road. On the Gem, I just want to go 35-40 for a short period to get off of a busy road—The rest of the time, 25mph should be fine. I can imagine what one of these monster SUVs could do to a Gem.
My 2009 eS with a bone-stock controller, factory 7hp motor, tall tires and a 6:1 gear will cruise at 40 mph all day long - or until I run out of Gel battery charge after about 15 miles.
Even at 25mph I drive it like it’s a motorcycle - no one can see me and they’re all going to turn in front of me.
