# Should governments increase tax on gasoline/petrol?

A number of eco-experts believe that governments around the world need to work in tandem to increase the tax paid on a liter of gasoline/petrol. The more expensive gasoline/petrol is for motorists the more likely they are to move towards alternative transportation such as electric vehicles.

Is this really a viable option?
