# New to Forum, long time GEM e4 owner

Hello to all forum members. I have owned a 2005 GEM e4 since new. I changed the motor to a 7-1/2 hp and put on new wheels and tires. Still running on the original Gel batteries, although range is down to 4 to 5 miles. I don’t drive far very often, but I’m looking forward to extending the range. Planning to change to Li batteries soon. I’m also anxious to learn more about quieting the disk brakes!
