# Is Volkswagen planning to launch a new ground breaking EV battery pack?

There is intense speculation that Volkswagen is on the verge of a major breakthrough in the area of electric vehicle batteries. If the rumours are correct the company could soon release lithium ion batteries which can deliver up to 4 times the power and double the current journey capacity.

This would certainly be a game changer for the company and a massive step forward for the industry.
