# How many batterys for 40 miles

Hi;  
I have been wanting to build a ev for a long time and I’m just about ready to do it. I want to use a suzuki sidekick because I need a 4x4. I wanted to know if I can fit enough batterys in to go 40 miles is such a small car. . I don’t have any of my power train layed out. I found a couple of cars I could get and the thought came to me that the car may not be able to carry the batterys. Any info is appreciated. Thanks Dan

[EV of America](http://www.ev-america.com/) will help you out in your calculations. You just need to send them the vehicle type, some weight info, and your performance goals (range etc).

It should be noted that I have never dealt with EVA, nor do I endorse them - I just read this on their website yesterday.
