The carts have an installed relay all that has to be updated is the circuit.

Thanks for the comments. I did forget to mention my Gem is a 2004. Before I look at alternate wiring options I would like to check my stock wiring to make sure someone didn’t mess with it. ( I just bought this one last week). Anyone have a pic or diagram of the wiring connections at the switch on a 04?

Thanks,
Jeff

How many wires?
Can you post a picture?

It’s been a long time but I remember 5 or 6 spade lugs and more than 1 jumper.

This might not be the correct switch that came stock. However it does operate the blower and heater but only if you hold the switch in that position.

Thanks,
Jeff

It doesn’t say the amps anywhere on the switch and obviouly doesn’t have the same rocker switch but does say carling 0331.

Can you verify wiring and colors.
Looks like center off and two functions.
Fan both ways, high low?
Or fan both ways, heat fan the other?
Or fan high/low-heat both ways.

Hmmm

this one has 5 spade lugs and intended for automotive lighting service.

While waiting to verify operation and colors.
Here are some good candidates.

The carling # seems not valid. It’s printed on many types.
Do you recall 2 speed blower or 2 heat levels?

Thanks Inwo. My switch actually has 8 spades connectors, 7 connected and one empty, wired very similar to mine but has an additional blue/purple wire and no black wire. I will try to find colored pens and draw it up.

Thanks,
Jeff

</div>

Couldn’t find any color pens but here’s how my switch is wired. I made a mistake in previous post there is a black wire, thought it was originally brown.

The switch appears to just be a 3 way heater, off, defrost.

Part number on the harness is 0106-00672

Thanks Jeff

Would you consider sending me the switch?

As it still works, I could ring it out, post the results, and search for a replacement.

Or Rodney might do it too. He has more direct knowledge of Gems.

It’s starting to look like a specialty switch, requiring a rewire per Rodney.

I’m up for the challenge!🙂

I’ll draw another and you can tell me the colors.

So is this a typical failure mode of a switch to change staying in position to momentary?

I’ve seen it before. Not common.

Is it center off? Or off-on-on?

</div>

Correct center off. Heat up. Fan down. Spring to the center when under power and when unplugged.

Thanks,
Jeff
