# BMW and Daimler to produce urban electric vehicle

In a move which has surprised many people, it was this week revealed that BMW and Daimler will be jumping into bed together to create a new urban electric vehicle. This is perhaps the most surprising partnership in the history of the automobile industry although it does seem as though government funding may well have been behind the venture.
There is no doubt that both of these heavyweights are looking towards the electric vehicle market with anticipation and also looking to get a foothold for the future. It will be interesting to see how this development progresses and indeed whether it is the first of many such ventures between the two companies.
