My E4 did not come with doors so it is lacking the front and rear glass fill and panel fill areas. I do not plan to buy doors however I do prefer the look of the Gem with those areas “filled” in.

With Gem of Miami’s help, I purchased all four glass sections and all four body colored panels. On one of the FB groups for Gems, I purchased the front and rear door posts with all the hardware.

What I can’t seem to find is any instructions as to how the glass and panel are affixed to the vehicle. The front and rear posts are pretty easy to install but I could definitely use some advice and direction for the glass and filler panel.

Has anyone installed doors and the related door “filler kit” on a Gem that didn’t originally come with them?

I salvaged some doors and filler glass from a wreck and put them on my E4. I just looked at the door installation instructions (I assume you have them?) and I see they don’t address the fillers. It’s been a few years and at my age, I have a hard time remembering breakfast.

I think it was a matter of getting creative at clamping them in place while the sealant was curing. I might have done one side at a time and wedged lumber between the garage wall and the panels I wanted to keep in place. I also didn’t use the factory sealant. I believe I used Permatex black silicone adhesive in a caulking tube. Not sure how many tubes it took though.

Good luck. Hope this helps.

The important part is to have the proper distance between the two posts and that they are square in case you want to install doors later. You can’t adjust them once the fillers are glued in.

I found the filler instructions but can’t upload them here. If you need them, send me your email address and I’ll send them to you.
