# 2000 gem car code 05

Hi guys,  
I have a 2000 gem that is flashing code 05 intermittently. Sometimes it runs fine, sometimes it will take off than stop with 05 flashing. I think the code means main relay not closing and it says “check main relay and fuse”. Where is the main relay and fuse and what is the testing procedure.

any luck with the error code 05? i have 2001 that runs great but then shuts down and 05 error code is present. this happens intermittently. sometimes turning key/ignition works but not always. any luck with yours? thanks

Forget the fuse, because nothing would work if it fails. The contactor is under the dash. We have never had a failure. Check for ohms across the coil and look for pitting on the contacts.
